I. GENERAL PRESENTATION:

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has worked in Lebanon on several occasions within the last decades. The latest emergency response of MSF teams has been during 2006 summer war where MSF brought medical and humanitarian assistance in and around Sur, in Saida, Jezzine, Aley region, Beirut and Baalbeck. MSF teams provided relief items and medical care including psychological aid, supported health structures and sought access to populations trapped in conflict zones, the displaced and the returnees.

More recently MSF' headquarter in Switzerland launched a broader assessment in Lebanon in a view to fill in gaps in humanitarian response. Following a 4 months assessment, MSF Switzerland decided to start a mental health project in Burj al Barajneh neighbourhood in a view to expand its program in other regions. Thus, MSF Switzerland will continue to assess emergent medical needs of the Lebanese population and propose actions in its capacity.

During its previous work in Lebanon, MSF Switzerland collaborated with health authorities, professionals and researchers on health and is dedicated to do so in the future.

II. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

· To contribute to the planning of the MSF country operations, including the reviewing and updating of the Annual Plan of Action and Budget, 3 Monthly Reviews in consultation and collaboration with the Coordination team
· To actively support the project team's activities in setting up protocols, medical data collection systems and methods of analysis, project evaluation tools, revision of job profiles, recruitment and training of MSF staff
· Carry out analysis of data collected, calculating indicators, lead the project evaluation and monitoring
· Together with Field coordination team and Head of Mission lead the organization of adapted training activities on mental health for MSF's medical and non medical partners active in project area
· Together with the Head of Mission, represent MSF with relevant medical bodies and health authorities, maintain relations within medical networks
· Together with the coordination team, to work out and implement an Emergency preparedness plan and develop human resource capacity for emergencies among the medical team.
· To participate and actively coordinate exploratory missions, medical situation assessment assessments and project proposals, know and apply rapid assessment tools and procedures (e.g. population count...etc.)

III. REQUIREMENTS:

· Experienced Medical Doctor, minimum 3 years post registration clinical experience as a general practitioner, MD with specialization preferred
· Post registration experience or additional specialization in Public Health, refugee health or mental health is an asset
· Valid certificate to exercise the profession, registered with relevant authorities in Lebanon
· Prior experience with NGO's or volunteer work an asset
· Strong management and co-ordination skills
· Arabic native speaker, fluent in Arabic and in English (written, spoken)
· Diplomatic, good social skills, creative, flexible, able to improvise and to cope with considerable stress levels

  THE PROJECT: This is a new project and position and builds upon NRC s 2 -years of Shelter experience in the South. The output will be a comprehensive review of the Shelter sector in the South looking at work done, gaps and needs, lessons learnt, best practice and emergency preparedness planning. JOB PURPOSE This is a field based position. The purpose is to undertake research in Southern Lebanon concerning the affects of the 2006 hostilities in terms of Shelter. The SFO will travel extensively in the south interviewing the population, local government, NGOs and other stakeholders to collect a range of information. Once collected, the data will be digitalized and analysed by the team as a whole. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Data collection activities - To meet and interview with a sample population of Southern Lebanese and collect the necessary information. - To meet and interview local government, NGOs and other stakeholders and collect the necessary information. - To digitalise, analyse and summarise the data. Social activities - To explain the project aims and objectives to the sample population and other stakeholsers through daily contact and the organization of regular meetings the disaster dangers - To assist on the reporting of the general situation - To coordinate with the stakeholders Facilitation and Data entry: - To facilitate meetings or seminars with the stockholders Reporting activities - To assist the SC in Liaison Tasks when asked.

JOB DESCRIPTION :
  In the framework a project aiming at empowering iraqi refugee women, Amel Association is recruiting a part-time social worker with the following duties:
Assess the needs and priorities of the targeted beneficiaries and define suitable activities based on participatory approach
Encourage the creation of a Women Committee and appointment of Women Leaders and help them to develop strategy to improve their skills and well-being through educational, sportive or artistic activities
Provide them all the necessary assistance to set up timetable for the activities, assess needs for supplies and materials, prepare list of requirements and allocate and arrange space for the different activities
Assist the project manager in the selection and recruitment of the required trainers for vocational training sessions or life skills workshops targeting women
Assist the project manager to assess the activities by designing and filling evaluation toolsand propose corrective measures
Arrange social and psychological counseling for women, organize referrals and follow-up cases
Create, develop and maintain an appropriate network of institutions, NGOs and relevant partners in the concerned field of activity

The Social Worker will assist the project manager in developing full understanding of the refugee population profile in Lebanon, their protection concerns and needs by conducting field visit at least once a week, collecting data and updating a database

Reporting / Meeting

Attend weekly staff meeting
Attend coordination meetings with relevant partners in the field of its responsibility
