The mass massacre that took place in the village of Qana in South Lebanon in April 1996 was a real witness to "Israeli" terrorism. This massacre was the culmination of a deliberate campaign, called the "Grapes of Wrath" operation, waged by "Israel" agianst civilian targets.
With the intention of inflicting civilian deaths and injuries, "Israel" bombed a UN base where hundreds of refugees were taking shelter in the belief they would be safe among the peacekeepers from "Israel's" air, sea and artillery attacks.
The deliberate artillery attack left the UN base with headless bodies and with innumerable shredded body parts, rendering it difficult to arrive at an exact count of the dead. Anyhow, more than 105 people were reportedly killed.
In his report on the shelling, filed after eight days of investigation, UN expert Major-General Franklin van Kappen concluded that it was "unlikely" that the "Israeli" attack had been a mistake. He also described other "Israeli" attacks resulting in unlawful killing of civilians. One such attack was the incident in which an "Israeli" helicopter deliberately attacked a clearly marked ambulance that was engaged in legitimate humanitarian activities.
The Qana massacre and the other deliberate and indiscriminate attacks against Lebanese civilians reflect the aggressive nature of the state of "Israel." They indicate that this state is the source of terrorism in the Middle East. Finally, if we are to name this sort of aggression, we can simply call it: "Israeli State Terrorism."
